About Wendy Smith
Wendy Smith made her first jump in 1985, in New Zealand. Then, by traveling, she discovered the new disciplines of skydiving. She has a passion and talent for photography and filming. Her technical abilities have allowed her to cover, cameras on helmet, exceptional reportages and international skydiving events.
At the beginning of 2009, with over 18,000 jumps, she continues to pursue her career, seeking special images by skydivers around the world.
Wendy has competed at International Skydiving Competition level since 1989 and has been a Freelance Commercial Cameraman during the last 20 years.
During these years she has gained multi medals in different disciplines, won Emmy Awards for best remote location cameraman, gained a new women’s world record gold medal in speed skydiving, performed stunts in aerial skydiving never seen before, jumped for aerial fashion model shoots, filmed, photographed and participated in numerous world record skydiving events and commercials.
She has co-produced, filmed and participated in extreme skydiving movies at the cutting edge of sport skydiving, published a photographic book, “Eyes in the Sky”, to compliment 15 years of sport skydiving with French photographer Patrick Passe.
In 2008 Wendy was one of the first skydivers to freefall above Mount Everest from 29,500 feet. Then completing another World first on the 28th October 2009, Wendy was one of 3 skydivers to make the World’s Highest landing at 17192 feet at Kalar Pattar—next to Mount Everest Base Camp.
Wendy is the European Event Organizer for Everest Skydive
Her active role as a “Global Angels skydiving Ambassador”, www.globalangels.org, has helped raise thousands of dollars for children in Asia.
Wendy has also been a participant in every Women’s World record for "jump the cause" since 1999, helping raise millions of dollars for Breast cancer research. www.jumpforthecause.com
